Chocolate Chilli Black Tea Infused Old Fashioned Cocktail

Freddy’s Spicy Pick Me Up

As well as curating two special teas in partnership with Netflix for series The Gentlemen, each representing the show’s ‘good guy’ Eddie, and his ‘bad boy’ brother Freddy, we also created a tea cocktail for both. These were tasted, selected and served at the London premiere for the cast and guests to enjoy. Here’s how to make Freddy’s Chocolate Chilli Old Fashioned at home, with suggestions on how to make this non-alcoholic if you prefer.

Ingredients

Method

  • To make Chocolate Chilli whisky, add three Chocolate Chilli teabags to a 750ml bottle of preferred whisky or bourbon and leave to infuse at room temperature for minimum 4 hours or maximum 8 hours
  • To make sugar syrup, mix 1:1 ratio (i.e. 250ml water to 250g sugar) of filtered water with caster sugar in a small pan and bring to a simmer, stirring to ensure all sugar is dissolved
  • Add 50ml tea infused whisky and 20ml to cocktail shaker with the three dashes of bitter and plenty of ice. Stir in a clockwise motion for three minutes before straining into a whisky glass filled with ice.
  • Garnish with an extra teabag for a final flourish.
  • To create a version without alcohol, infuse 1 x chocolate chilli teabag with 250ml apple juice, add three dashes of bitters and serve over ice. Top up with sparkling water if you wish.
